Voting problems reported in Pennsylvania’s Cambria, Bedford counties – Times of India

WorldVoting problems reported in Pennsylvania's Cambria, Bedford counties - Times of India

Voting was stalled in Cambria county for machine problems following which the timing was extended.

Pennsylvania’s Cambria and Bedford counties faced scanning problems with the voting machines and software after the voting process began Tuesday. According to reports, the voters could not scan their ballots at Cambria County following which a court order extended the voting time to 10pm, two hours past the 8pm deadline. As Cambria Country is a red zone, MAGA supporters started crying foul on social media and urged the voters to stay up on the line and not to allow any kind of cheating.
“The Cambria County Board of Election learned early this morning that a software malfunction in the County’s Electronic Voting System has prevented voters from scanning their ballots,” Cambria County Solicitor Ron Repak said in a statement.
“This should not discourage voters from voting at their voting precincts. The Board has filed a Court Order extending the time to vote within Cambria County.”
The Pennsylvania Department of State said it has been made aware of the issues in Cambria County and is working with local officials to correct them.

“Voters are continuing to vote by paper ballot, in accordance with normal operations, while the county resolves the issue with in-precinct scanning,” the department said in a statement.
“We are working with the County to resolve this technical matter and remain committed to ensuring a free, fair, safe, and secure election.”
A similar issue is occurring in Bedford County, with officials saying they are quickly working on fixing the machines. The ballots in the county will remain in a secured lock box until they can be counted, according to the local Election Board. Several other counties in the state, including Blair, Somerset and Clearfield are allegedly down, but those reports have yet to be verified, New York Post reported.
