Two new fire stations to come up in Perambalur and Karur districts

New fire and rescue services stations are to come up in Perambalur and Karur districts. 

The fire stations will be located at Veppanthattai in Perambalur district and Kulithalai in Karur district. An announcement to this effect was made in the Legislative Assembly session recently.

Authorities said the site for establishing the new fire station at Veppanthanttai was in the process of being identified. It could function from a temporary building for the time being. The need for establishing a fire station at Veppanthattai was a long-pending public demand.

The new fire station would cover the entire Veppanthattai taluk with around 60 revenue villages. Some of the villages in Veppanthattai block bordered with neighbouring Kallakurichi and Salem districts. The number of fire and rescue services stations in Perambalur district would increase to three once the new Veppanthattai station began functioning. At present, the district had two fire stations at Perambalur and Veppur.

As for the new fire station at Kulithalai, the exercise of identification of site for would begin. The number of fire and rescue services stations in Karur district would rise to four once the new station at Kulithalai started functioning. At present, the fire and rescue services stations in the were functioning at Karur, Pugalur and Aravakurichi, the authorities added.
