Police on Wednesday said that they have launched “initial investigations” into two explosions that took place near the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen, in Denmark.
“On the basis of two explosions, we are present in the Strandagervej/Lundevangsvej area. No one has been injured, and we are carrying out the initial investigations at the scene. A possible connection to the Israeli Embassy, located in the area, is being investigated,” the police said in a post on X.
“We are currently receiving a lot of calls that we are unable to answer,” the police added.
No individuals were injured in the blasts, which took place overnight in the “immediate proximity”, a police spokesperson Jakob Hansen told AFP, adding that “It’s too early to say if there is a link” between the explosions and the Israeli diplomatic mission.
The Israeli embassy is situated among various other foreign missions, including those of Iran, Thailand, Turkey, and Romania, all of which are located in the affluent suburb of Hellerup, north of Copenhagen.
The explosions occurred amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East, with Iran launching a volley of missiles into Israeli territory and Israel pledging to make Iran face consequences for the attack.
