Having scaled up production four-fold since its start in 2006, the Seed Centre of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has inked a pact with National Seeds Corporation (NSC), New Delhi, for supply of quality inputs.
The TNAU will be supplying seeds, saplings, seed coating formulations, biofertilisers, biopesticides, micronutrients, and crop boosters to NSC to ensure enhanced availability of quality inputs to farmers across the country, Vice-Chancellor V. Geethalakshmi said.
The Vice-Chancellor exchanged MoU documents with J. Selvendran, Regional Manager, NSC, Chennai, in the presence of R. Umarani, Director, Seed Centre, and R. Ravikesavan, Director, Centre for Plant Breeding and Genetics, TNAU, on Thursday during the 11th Annual Seed Workshop.
Eighty scientists finalised the seed production of various crops in TNAU for the ensuing year 2025-26.
The scientists had earlier developed the TNAU Seed Stock Web portal to provide real-time data on place of seed availability for various crops and classes.
