Nearly eight kilograms of suspected ganja was seized and three persons arrested in three separate cases registered by the police and the Excise on Wednesday.
In one case, the North Paravur Excise range arrested Neelu Deuri from Odisha reportedly with 1.25 kilograms of ganja from Manjali during a special drive as part of the ongoing Operation Clean Slate. His accomplice, also from Odisha, however, managed to flee. The Excise has launched a manhunt to nab him.
In another incident, the Nedumbassery police arrested one Deepu Mandal, 24, of Murshidabad in West Bengal, allegedly with 1.30 kilograms of ganja. He was nabbed from Desom where he had come allegedly for sale. A weighing machine was also seized from him, the police said. This come close on the heels of the seizure of nearly four kilograms of suspected ganja from a person on Tuesday.
Imadul Sekh, of Murshidabad in West Bengal, was arrested allegedly with 4.99 kilograms of ganja from Chittethukara in Kakkanad by the Kochi city police.
