A severe heatwave continues to grip Telangana, with temperatures soaring above 40°C in 28 out of the 33 districts, according to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS). The highest temperature was recorded in Bela in Adilabad, at 42°C, followed by 41.9°C in Kothagudem (Bhadradri Kothagudem) and Makthal (Narayanpet), as per TGDPS bulletin on temperatures recorded from Sunday (March 16, 2025) to Monday morning.

Nizamsagar in Kamareddy and Rebbena in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad also recorded temperatures of 41.8°C.

Temperatures in urban Telangana

In urban Telangana, Bandlaguda in Hyderabad registered 40.1°C, while Dundigal in Medchal-Malkajgiri saw 41.1°C. Abdullapurmet in Rangareddy reported one of the highest temperatures in the urban districts at 41.4°C. The lowest maximum temperature in the State was recorded in Jangaon and Hanumakonda at 39.8°C.

Orange alert

With extreme heat persisting, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange heatwave alert for Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Jagtial districts for Monday, March 17.
