INDSIT arrests Dy. SP in advocate suicide case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kanakalakshmi, in connection with the suicide of Jeeva, an advocate.

Jeeva allegedly ended her life, leaving behind a detailed 13-page suicide note accusing the Dy. SP of harassment and bribery. The victim, in her suicide note, alleged that she was forced to disrobe, harassed, and humiliated on the pretext of inquiry before being asked for a bribe of ₹25 lakh.

Jeeva was facing a probe related to the Karnataka Bhovi Corporation scam at the time. Dy. SP Kanakalakshmi was leading the inquiry and had taken 34-year-old Jeeva into custody in this regard.

Jeeva died by suicide at her residence in Padmanabhanagar, Bengaluru. Following her suicide, Jeeva’s sister lodged a complaint against CID Dy. SP Kanakalakshmi.

The SIT was constituted on the directions of the High Court, following the application of the advocates association in Bengaluru.
