Security forces to remain in New Caledonia as long as necessary: French President Macron – Times of India

NEW DELHI: French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Thursday that the security forces would remain in riot-hit New Caledonia, for as long as needed.
However, he said that the state of emergency would not be extended unnecessarily.
The French president arrived in New Caledonia on Thursday for a series of discussions aimed at moving forward from the deadly unrest that was sparked by a controversial electoral reform.
