Salem district topped in the State by collecting ₹9,101.99 crore through post office small savings schemes in the last five years, District Collector R. Brindha Devi has said.
The Collector said in a press release that the district collected ₹9,101.99 crore in five financial years. Salem district topped in the State, and educated men and women were working as post office small savings agents. An agent, namely K. Velumani, collected ₹73.83 lakh and topped in the State for the last five financial years continuously, she said.
The Collector urged the public to not deposit their money in private financial firms that offered abnormal interest rates. To get assured returns, the public should deposit in the small savings schemes in post offices, she said.
