INDResidents complain of poor services at e-seva centres

Residents have complained about poor services in e-seva centres in various parts of the city.

A number of residents who visit e-seva centres to get certificates from the government departments for students this summer have complained that the services have not been proper owing to the lack of trained persons at the centres.

K.Ganesan, of Thirumoolar Colony Welfare Association, said many centres in government offices did not provide services, citing server problem. “The private e-seva centres charge exorbitant fee for services. Many parents will start visiting e-seva centres for community certificates, income certificates and other services for admission to higher educational institutions. But the centres are not prepared to help residents,” he said.

Residents said many of the private affiliated centres found using the App for tracking e-seva centres are actually not functional owing to various issues. Most of the centres in taluk offices and GCC offices do not provide services because of inadequate manpower and lack of trained persons.

Ward 104 councillor T.V.Shemmozhi said the e-seva centre in Anna Nagar has closed because it did not have technical personnel to man the centre. S.Sowmya, who runs a private e-seva centre with licence from the Tamil Nadu e Governance Agency said she has also obtained licence for Common Service Centre to provide services of the Government of India including passport services. “Many workers in the centres are not technically qualified. So the applications get rejected,” she said.

Velachery resident S.Kumararaja said the residents want a single centre to avail themselves of all services of all government departments. Officials said they were holding discussions to facilitate integration of all aspects to improve services at e-seva centres and common service centres.
