The city was drenched in colours as the denizens celebrated Holi with enthusiasm and joy on Friday (March 14, 2025).
The entire Beach Road stretch came alive with vibrant colours and joyous gatherings since early morning. A big crowd thronged the beach to celebrate the festival of colours.
People from all walks of life gathered at locations such as Vishwa Priya Function Hall, YMCA, Kursura Submarine Museum, R.K. Beach, Coconut Arenas.
Smeared in an array of colours, people greeted each other. Small groups danced to the tunes of peppy numbers played on small speaker boxes they carried along as some members of the groups busy clicking pictures on their phones.

Several groups of girls and women danced as others shot reels that were posted on social media, which was flooded with Holi greetings, tagged along with pictures and tells of celebrations and revelry. The revellers, especially youths, threw colours at each other while some others were busy in small football games on the beach.
Small vends selling colours, eggs, tomatoes, ‘pichkaris’, along the Beach Road did brisk business.
Some revellers played in the water and shot reels as the police personnel and community guards constantly urged the people not to go into deep water on the beach where the dangerous rip currents are not rare.
Not just RK Beach, all tourist hangouts in the city such as Tenneti Park, Rushikonda Beach and Bheemili Beach were packed with visitors who celebrated till the late afternoon.
Many hotels especially those along the Beach Road stretch organised special events for the celebrations. Revellers thronged those venues and enjoyed rain dances and DJ music.
Meanwhile, the city bylanes including MVP Colony, Peda Waltair, Gajuwaka and One Town were brimming with revellers’ shoutouts, music, and festive frenzy.
Children, with their faces smeared with colours, were busy playing and splashing colours on their friends and those passing through the stretch who happily obliged to the festive enthusiasm. People visited the houses of relatives and friends to wish them ‘Happy Holi’.
Gated communities hosted special events for the residents.
The traffic police personnel kept a vigil to check drunk driving and ensure no racing events. However, many people were seen riding two-wheelers without wearing helmets, resorting to triple-riding and over-speeding, etc.
