National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Ministry of Earth Sciences organised an international symposium on ‘Advancements in marine renewable energy’, here on Monday.
On the occasion, NITI Aayog member Vijay Kumar Saraswat presented the ‘Roshini’ lanterns to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep administration authorities. He also launched the wave-powered navigational buoy for the Kamarajar Port authorities.
The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Ministry of Science and Technology, has transferred the Saline Water Lantern (Roshini) and Wave-Powered Navigational Buoy technologies developed by NIOT to M/s Yallas Pvt. limited, Visakhapatnam, and Next Engineering Pvt. Ltd, respectively.
Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan, Visakhapatnam students, secured 1st and 2nd prizes on the theme ‘Marine Renewable Energy’ drawing competition, showcasing their artistic contributions to this initiative.
