A man accused in around 10 cases and exiled under the Kerala Anti-social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) was arrested by the Kochi City police reportedly under trying conditions from his house on Thanthonnithuruth island on Wednesday.
The arrested was identified as Sreeraj, 28. He was nabbed on the basis of intelligence reports. He had cases, including for attempt to murder, registered under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act.
Though exiled under the KAAPA, he allegedly continued to stay in Thanthonnithuruth. Reportedly, he thwarted attempts by the police to nab him by diving into the waterbody and swimming to safety. A team from the Mulavukad police station encircled his house at Thanthonnithuruth and eventually overpowered him on Wednesday.
