The K.K. Nagar police on Wednesday (April 30, 2025) arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly murdering a share-auto driver, following a quarrel.
The police said the deceased has been identified as M. Vijayakanth, 33, a native of Sivagangai district. He was staying at M.G.R. Nagar and drove a share autorickshaw for a living. On Monday night, he was sitting in his auto and speaking to his friends when the suspect Thangam, an auto driver who was known to Vijayakanth, got into an argument with him.
An infuriated Thangam beat up Vijayakanth, who sustained serious injuries. Subsequently, Vijayakanth was taken to a government hospital, where he was declared ‘brought dead’.
The police arrested Thankam, 27, of Sivagangai district, for the murder. He also has four criminal cases against him, the police said.
