Jagga Reddy dismisses Kishan Reddy’s comments on religion in caste census

IND Jagga Reddy dismisses Kishan Reddy’s comments on religion in caste census

Hero of the caste census is Rahul Gandhi and not Prime Minister Narendra Modi, TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy said while ridiculing the BJP for seeing the communal angle even in the caste census.

“It’s Prime Minister Modi who should clarify whether people of other religions will be included in the caste census or not,” Mr Jagga Reddy said while questioning Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy’s reported comments that backwardness in other religions would not be part of the caste census. He claimed that the BJP leaders were losing sleep over the fact that Rahul Gandhi came up with the idea of a caste census, which the Centre has now decided to conduct.

“Rahul Gandhi is the hero in the country for the caste census, and Revanth Reddy is the hero in the State,” he said criticising the BJP for trying to claim credit for the decision. Claims of Mr Kishan Reddy speaking about BJP’s commitment were ridiculous, he argued, asking why the BJP leaders ignored the same caste survey despite Rahul Gandhi repeatedly asking for it. Mr. Jagga Reddy said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra’s key result was the idea of caste census that emerged during Mr Gandhi’s interaction with the masses across the country.

The former MLA said that the BJP’s attempts to take credit for the caste census are of no benefit and that Rahul Gandhi’s vision will prevail. “If Modi doesn’t do it, Rahul Gandhi will do it when he becomes the Prime Minister,” he added.
