Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former mayor of New York and a longtime ally of former President Donald J. Trump, has been disbarred from the practice of law, effective immediately, a New York State appellate court ruled on Tuesday.
Mr. Giuliani has filed for bankruptcy and owes $148 million to two Georgia women stemming from a judgment in a defamation case.
The 31-page order disbarring Mr. Giuliani from practicing law in New York largely focused on his work as the personal attorney for Mr. Trump and his campaign.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
