The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) will release a detailed report on environmental investments, Mayor R. Priya announced during the Budget presentation on Wednesday.
Earlier, sources in the civic body said that the GCC would collaborate with the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group to promote climate investments, which would help tackle sea water intrusion, surface and ground water pollution, water scarcity, coastal floods, severe winds, irregular monsoon, and floods.
Six strategies
It may be noted that in 2024, the GCC had come up with six strategies to reduce congestion and pollution as part of the Chennai Climate Action Plan — improving public transport, introducing non-motorized transit options, improving walkways, implementing congestion pricing, regulating freight and managing parking.
