Futuristic education key to India’s development, says TGCHE chairman

Futuristic education must be a top priority for universities to accelerate India’s development, and all necessary support will be extended to such initiatives, said V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE). He was speaking at the inauguration of MNR University’s central admissions office in Balanagar on Sunday.

Highlighting the need for a long-term vision in higher education, Mr. Reddy stressed the importance of a structured roadmap. “Futuristic education based on a five- or ten-year plan is the need of the hour. An interdisciplinary approach, coupled with technological innovation, should be the key driver,” he said.

He further underscored that India’s rapidly growing population should be seen as an opportunity rather than a liability. “Those who possess knowledge and innovation shape the world. Today, the global spotlight is on India, thanks to its young and dynamic population,” he noted.

Reflecting on the changes brought about by globalisation, liberalisation, privatisation, and digitisation, Mr. Reddy highlighted the transformative impact of these forces on education. He also pointed to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, stressing the need to adapt through technology and innovation. “The pandemic posed numerous challenges to education, and we must equip ourselves to address them effectively with cutting-edge technology,” he remarked.
