The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) on Thursday has floated a Request for Proposals (RfP) for two iconic projects in Madhurawada, on a public-private-partnership basis.
The first project is the East Coast Habitat Centre (ECHC) proposed on 8.82 acres of land in Rushikonda, on the lines of the famous India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
This ECHC will have commercial office spaces, a business centre, an event hall, an art gallery, an exhibition hall, a boutique hotel, service apartments, a premium club, event lawns, fine dining restaurants, a food court, a sports centre, a supermarket, a medical centre, banks and ATMs.
The ECHC will be located along Law College Road, near Panorama Hills.
The ECHC is envisaged as a multi-purpose space, catering to the needs of individuals, corporates, inter-governmental organisations (IGOs), State and Central government organisations, business houses, foreign individuals, and NRIs.
The estimated project cost is around ₹460 crore. The PPP period will be 36 years including the construction period of three years.
The second project is Vizag Experience & Virtual Reality Arena, and a 3-star hotel proposed on a 2.82-acre site on Law College Road. This will offer a mix of experiences, allowing tourists to engage with technology in innovative ways.
“Visakhapatnam is the fastest growing city in Andhra Pradesh. There is a growing need for world-class infrastructure to keep pace with rapid urbanisation. The growth of the city will create opportunities for new enterprises and investments, thereby generating demand for jobs, real estate and other sectors. Keeping this in mind, the VMRDA has proposed these two projects,” said VMRDA Commissioner K.S. Viswanathan.
