Driver dies in accident in Salem

A driver of a mini lorry died in an accident here on Saturday. Vijayan (62), a resident of Mundagambadi in Yercaud, took workers of a tea estate in a mini lorry on Saturday evening from Semmanatham to Sombuthooki. When the mini lorry reached Vazhavandhi, the vehicle went out of control and toppled on the roadside. In the accident, Vijayan sustained grievous injuries and three workers also sustained injuries. The workers took Vijayan to Salem Government Hospital after providing first aid at Vazhavandhi Primary Health Centre. But he died on the way to the hospital. The Yercaud police registered a case and are investigating.

Kumbabishekam performed at Morur temple in Salem

Hundreds of devotees witnessed the Kumbabishekam at Sakthi Vinayakar and Maha Mariamman temple at Morur near Sankagiri on Sunday. Temple administration said Mandalabishekam would be held for the next 24 days at the temple.
