The Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) budget for the 2025-26 fiscal has earmarked ₹4.7 crore for infrastructure development.
The budget, presented by Syndicate standing committee convener K.K. Krishnakumar on Thursday (March 13, 2025), expects a total income of ₹428.85 crore and an expenditure of ₹461.78 crore.
The budget has allocated ₹50 lakh for the modernisation of examination systems and academic programmes, ₹25 lakh for accreditation and ranking activities, ₹20 lakh for the Cusat Research Support Network System, and ₹16 lakh for the Campus Radio initiative, according to a release.
It has earmarked ₹5 lakh for the infrastructure development of the industry-sponsored research programme aimed at promoting academic-industry linkages and ₹10 lakh for the skill development of students.
An allocation of ₹50 lakh has been made for innovative courses and the reorganisation of existing ones, while another ₹50 lakh will go towards upgrading the hybrid high-performance computing system at the data centre set up at the Centre for Information and Resource Management.
Funds amounting to ₹20 lakh have been set aside for technological development and research in hydrogen electric vehicles, weather forecasting, fuel cells, solar cells, semiconductors, marine resource processing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and intellectual property rights.
