The Olakkur police on Tuesday arrested a 32-year-old man from Chennai in a hit-and-run case, which claimed the life of a 39-year-old man at the Ongur bridge near Tindivanam on Sunday.
According to the police, the accident occurred at around 8 a.m. on Sunday when the victim Narayanasamy, 39, of Chennai was riding a two-wheeler with his wife Meena, 31, sitting pillion.
The duo was on the way to the Angalamman temple in Melmalayanur when a speeding car hit them and sped away. While Narayanasamy died on the spot, Meena was admitted to a Government Hospital in Acharapakkam.
When the police examined footage from CCTV cameras on the stretch, they saw an Audi car bearing a West Bengal registration number involved in the accident. The police tracked down R. Aravind, 32, of AGS Nagar in Chennai who was driving the car.
He was arrested and a case has been registered.
