INDChennai auto driver overhears passenger’s confession of crime, takes murder accused to police station

An unemployed engineering graduate fatally stabbed his father after an argument at their house in Thillai Ganga Nagar, Nanganallur. Fleeing in an auto-rickshaw, he confessed the crime to his brother over the phone. The auto driver, overhearing this, took him straight to the police station. Meanwhile, the victim was rushed by his elder son to the hospital but was declared dead, leading to the arrest of the younger son.

The suspect has been identified as Aditya Narayanan, 28 who is a gold medalist in Production Engineering. He was jobless and staying with his parents at their house in Thillai Ganga Nagar, Nanganallur. The suspect had a frequent quarrel with his father – Muralidharan, 66, – demanding money for his personal expenses.

On Monday, Aditya Narayanan took an auto and proceeded to Anna Salai. While he was proceeding, he called his elder brother, Prasanna Venkatesh living separately from their house and informed him that he had a quarrel with his father and had beaten him. He also told him that his father was in an emergency situation and asked to send an ambulance. Hearing the conversation, the auto driver took him to Triplicane Police station.

In the meantime, his brother reached their home and found the door was locked by a bicycle lock. With the help of the neighbours, the door was opened after severing the lock chain and he found his father was lying unconscious with stab injury on his neck.  They rushed him to a private hospital and later, he was sent to Government Hospital Chromepet where the doctors declared Muralidharan dead.

Adambakkam Police arrested Aditya Narayanan on charges of murder and remanded to judicial custody.
