CCB raids two bars running live band

INDCCB raids two bars running live band

Officials of the Women Protection Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Monday raided two bars and restaurants for allegedly employing women to run live bands.

Based on a petition, the CCB officials raided Brigade Nights Bar and Restaurant, Brigade Road in Ashok Nagar, and Dawaath Bar and Restaurant, in 7th block in Koramangala and allegedly found gross violations.

Though the management employed the women in the garb of bar tenders and staff, they had not obtained a license from the Labour Department, nor were the girls provided with mandatory Id cards, officials said. The officials also verified the CCTV camera footage and found gross violations and indecent acts in violation of government rules and High Court directions, officials added.

The raid also exposed the lapses on part of the jurisdictional police who failed to check on such activities.

The police, while checking the CCTV camera footage, found that a group of customers clashed with each other over a trivial row over a girl in brigade nights bar on February 18, leading to law and order situation.

Based on the raid and report by two officials of the Women Protection Wing with the CCB police station, the police have registered a case against the owners of the bars, building owner and manager and staff, charging them under various sections of Kartanataka Police Act, COTPA act, Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition ) Act, Section 296, Section 79, .
