INDBJP workers arrested in central districts after they protest against irregularities in Tasmac and police action against Annamalai


Several Bharatiya Janata Party members were arrested in Tiruchi and other districts in the central region on Monday after they staged protests condemning the alleged irregularities in the TASMAC and protesting against the arrest of the party’s State unit president K. Annamalai in Chennai.

In Tiruchi , a group of about 65 BJP members, led by the party’s district president Ondimuthu, was arrested after it assembled near the railway junction to stage a demonstration.  About 34 BJP members, who assembled at Vaiyampatti in Tiruchi district to lay siege to a TASMAC shop, were arrested. The protesting party members were also arrested Thathiengarpet, Musiri, Thottiyam, and Uppiliapuram in Tiruchi district. 

In Pudukottai, a group of about 74 BJP members were arrested after they staged a demonstration near the old bus stand. In Aranthangi, about 90 party members were arrested after they staged a demonstration near a TASMAC shop in the town.

Around 40 members of the party were arrested after they attempted to lay siege to a TASMAC shop near the old bus stand at Mayiladuthurai town. Arrests were also made in Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Ariyalur and Karur districts after a section of BJP members staged protests, said police sources.
