Akbar Road signage found defaced, accused at large

A signboard of Akbar Road in central Delhi was found defaced on Thursday, the police said, adding that a probe is under way to nab the accused.

In a purported video of the incident that appeared on social media later in the day, a suspect is heard saying the act was a “revenge to vandalisation of Maharana Pratap statue at Kashmere Gate”.

However, an officer clarified to The Hindu that the statue has not been vandalised but is in poor condition due to age, monkey menace and civic-related issues.
