The video of a Kansas University professor saying that some males will not vote for a potential female president. They should be lined up and shot, the professor said only to realize that he was being recorded. “Did I say that? Scratch that from recording,” the professor said. He did not mention Kamala Harris’ name, he just said ‘potential female president’.The university authorities reacted to the video and said they are aware of the video which was recorded during a class earlier this semester and the professor has been placed on administrative leave, pending further investigation. They said the instructor has offered his sincerest apologies and regreted the situation.
“His intent was to emphasize his advocacy for women’s rights and equality, and he recognizes he did a very poor job of doing so. The university has an established process for situations like this and will follow that process,” the university said.
According to reports, the staff member is an instructor of some classes in the department of health, sport and exercise sciences but the university did not reveal the identity.
“There are going to be some males in our society that will refuse to vote for a potential female president because they don’t think females are smart enough to be president,” he said in the recording. “We could line all those guys up and shoot them.”
As he became conscious. he said he did not want the dean to listen to his statement. “Scratch that from the recording, I don’t want the dean hearing that I said that.”
After the video went viral, the staff’s class was canceled Wednesday, according to an email sent to students. The instructor’s staff profile page on the KU Athletics website was taken down Wednesday morning. The instructor and a representative for the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Sciences did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
