The former first lady Melania Trump in her first television appearance in over two years, shared her experience of learning about the two assassination attempts on her husband Donald Trump‘s life.
In an exclusive interview with “Fox & Friends,” Melania recounted watching the footage of the first attempt, which took place at a mid-July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on television just a few minutes after it occurred.”I ran to the TV and I [rewound] it and I watched it,” she said.
“I didn’t really see [it] live, but maybe, you know, three minutes, a few minutes later. But when I saw it, I, you know, it was only… Nobody really knew yet. Because when you see him on the floor, and you don’t know, you don’t know what really happened,” she added.
The would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired multiple shots at the former president from a rooftop approximately 130 yards away before being fatally shot by a counter-sniper.
The second assassination attempt occurred while Melania was in New York City and her husband was playing golf at his club in West Palm Beach on September 15. She saw it on television and immediately called to check on him. “I saw it on the television and as soon as I saw it on television, I called again, and he was OK because Secret Service were great,” she said, praising the team’s fantastic work. She believes both events were miracles, considering the close calls.
“The guys that they were, the team, they were fantastic. And I think both of the events, they were really miracles. If you really think about it, July 13th was a miracle. How… like that much, and he could, you know, he could not be with us,” she added.
Ahead of the release of her self-titled memoir, “Melania,” in early October, the former first lady has been sharing a series of clips on social media.
In a September 10 video posted to X, she called for more answers regarding the near-fatal incident, questioning why law enforcement officials did not arrest the shooter before the speech and suggesting that there is more to the story that needs to be uncovered.

The bipartisan Trump assassination attempt task force is set to hold its first public hearing on Thursday, where they will discuss the security failures that led to the near assassination of a former president and current presidential candidate.
