World'To be a hater as an adult...': Former American soccer player Brittany Mahomes's cryptic reply after getting trolled for liking Trump's Instagram post - Times of India

Former American soccer player Brittany Mahomes found herself at the centre of a social media controversy after liking an Instagram post made by Donald Trump that detailed his 2024 GOP campaign platform.
The August 13 Instagram post included Trump’s positions on deporting ‘pro-Hamas radicals’ and keeping ‘men out of women’s sports.’ Mahomes was accused of supporting Trump’s controversial stances.

After 10 days of liking the post, Mahomes issued a strongly worded message aimed at her trollers, saying, “To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”

While Mahomes did not directly address the specific reasons for the criticism, her post seemed to be a reaction to the negative comments she received for interacting with Trump’s post, according to New York Post.
Though her Instagram account showed no visible signs of the backlash, indicating that negative comments were allegedly removed or deleted, the criticism continued on X (formerly Twitter), where users voiced their disapproval of her perceived support for Trump.
Some online comments highlighted the seeming double standards in her actions, especially considering that she is married to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is biracial, with both having mixed-race children together.
One user wrote, “Patrick Mahomes, imagine marrying someone who doesn’t care about your rights and your kid’s rights. Brittany Mahomes agreeing with Project 2025 but marrying a black man with mixed kids is insane.”
In the wake of the controversy, Mahomes appears to have removed her like from Trump’s post and unfollowed the former president as of Friday evening.
This incident comes just months after her husband Patrick made headlines for his decision to refrain from commenting on the 2024 presidential race, telling Time magazine in April that he didn’t “want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president.”
