WorldKamala Harris tears into Trump at DNC speech: 'Unserious man, but consequences of his return to White House extremely serious' - Times of India

In a momentous address at the Democratic National Convention, Kamala Harris accepted the party’s nomination for president amid raucous cheers from the audience. Her speech, delivered with conviction and clarity, focused on contrasting her vision with the dire consequences she attributes to a potential Trump re-election.
Harris began by sharply criticizing former President Donald Trump, whom she labeled as a significant threat to the nation’s governance and democratic norms.”In many ways, Donald Trump is an unserious man. But the consequences of putting Donald Trump back in the White House are extremely serious,” she warned.

She recounted Trump’s actions since leaving office, including his attempts to overturn the 2020 results and the violent Capitol attack instigated by him. Harris highlighted Trump’s recent legal troubles, noting his convictions for fraud and sexual abuse, and expressed concern over his intent to undermine democratic institutions if re-elected. “Consider what he intends to do if we give him power again,” Harris said, pointing to his explicit threats against journalists, political opponents, and even military use against civilians.

Transitioning to a more hopeful tone, Harris framed the upcoming election as a critical juncture for the nation. “Our nation, with this election, has a precious, fleeting opportunity to move past the bitterness, cynicism, and divisive battles of the past,” she said. Emphasizing her commitment to unity, she addressed moderate and independent voters, promising to govern with integrity and prioritize the country over party politics.

Harris also pledged to uphold core American values, including the rule of law, free and fair elections, and the peaceful transfer of power. “You can always trust me to put country above party and self,” she assured, as she framed the November election as a pivotal moment to forge a new path forward for the country.
The speech was met with enthusiasm and applause, setting the stage for what promises to be a high-stakes presidential campaign.
