The Delhi police have arrested two persons in connection with a road rage incident leading to the murder of a 24-year-old man in Kalyan Puri, east Delhi, a senior officer said on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Ashish, a tea-seller and the accused as Pankaj Kumar Sinha, 30, and Jeetu, 27.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania said a PCR call was received on Friday at the Kalyan Puri Police Station regarding a motorcycle rider being attacked by two men on another motorcycle near NH-24.

When a police team reached the spot, it found out that the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

Vikas, who was also on the same bike, told the police that when they were returning to Khoda after playing Holi, their motorcycle was hit by another motorcycle approaching from Mandawali.

“A heated argument ensued, and one of the bikers whipped out a liquor bottle from his pocket and struck Ashish on the head,” said the DCP.

The glass bottle broke into pieces, and the assailant picked a sharp-edged glass piece and slit Ashish’s throat before fleeing towards Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, the senior police officer added.

A case of murder was registered, and CCTV footage, the motorcycle number plate and other details helped in tracing the two accused in Ghaziabad, the DCP added.

Pankaj, a resident of Ghaziabad, works as a salesman in a coffee company, and Jeetu, a native of Mandawali, east Delhi, is an e-rickshaw driver. Both have a criminal record.
