We are buying 15 shares of Home Depot at roughly $345.65. Following the trade, Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust will own 345 shares of HD, increasing its weighting to 3.60% from 3.45%. We’re making one more buy Thursday of a beaten-down stock in an increasingly oversold market: Home Depot. We recognize it’s painful to put new money to work in an ugly market that keeps pushing lower and struggles to lift. However, our investment discipline calls for us to make a series of small buys in high-quality companies with strong track records when the market gets this oversold. On our March Monthly Meeting earlier Thursday afternoon, Jim highlighted Home Depot as one of his six favorite stocks to buy as the market goes lower. “Doubters should look at the long-term record of this company if you bought it at moments just like this when it really looks grim,” Jim said during the meeting. “You have to buy it now when it’s being obliterated. You can’t wait until it stabilizes and goes back up.” Our most recent buy of Home Depot was last Friday . In that trade alert, we pointed out how the recent decline in mortgage rates should act as a positive tailwind ahead of the all-important spring selling season. The average 30-year mortgage loan rate has yet to fall below the key 6.5% level, where housing turnover historically accelerates, but it’s not far off. Housing turnover is good news for Home Depot. If we see more encouraging inflation reports like the ones over the past two days, we could see the Federal Reserve lower interest rates as early as this summer.
