A 22-year-old man was murdered in Velankanni allegedly by his wife and her two accomplices.
Janarthanan, 22, and Helen Mary, 21, who got married in Velankanni a few months ago, returned to the town with two friends from Shivamogga, Karnataka, on March 8. On the same day, Janarthanan left the lodge in the afternoon with his two friends while Helen Mary stayed back. Later that night, only his friends returned, informing her that they had murdered Janarthanan near Velankanni Railway Station.
Helen Mary immediately filed a complaint with the Velankanni Police, who launched an investigation and found Janarthanan’s body in a wooded area near the railway station with severe head injuries. The body was sent to Nagapattinam Government Medical College for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the police learned that the two suspects were attempting to flee via train and, with the assistance of Thanjavur police, arrested them on Saturday. The suspects were identified as Jeevan, 19, from Shivamogga, and a 15-year-old minor.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Helen Mary had orchestrated the murder as she allegedly had a relationship with Jeevan and plotted Janarthanan’s murder.
On Sunday, Helen Mary, Jeevan, and the minor accomplice were arrested.
